Back to Programs

Executive Summary

The Kehatiku project, supported by the Wildlife Futures, aims to foster human-orangutan coexistence by empowering local communities to lead conservation initiatives. Key achievements during the 6 months covered by the Binnacle Fund include exceeding the target for wildlife observations (surpassing 600 observations per village across the four villages), estimating the orangutan population for all four villages, developing a user-friendly mobile application incorporating local wildlife names, and establishing a group chat for enhanced community communication.
